I am a quilter who loves traditional quilts. My love for quilting began with a simple nine-patch block made with my Grandmother and grew to more complex patterns. I have become passionate about paper piecing. Several of my paper pieced projects have won many accolades.
Penny Streeter began quilting at the age of nine with my paternal grandmother.
Starting a nine patch quilt with a treadle sewing machine. Although a few years passed before the quilting bug bite her again. But, she hasn’t stopped. Penny has been creating quits with her hands to supplement her young families budget. Later earning a degree in Family and Consumer Science Penny began to share her love for quilting with her students. Teaching across the USA and also in Matzalon Mexico.
Penny is a self-taught quilter and her early quilts, as with many quilters, were very traditional. Mostly bed quilts and wallhangings in traditional block settings and colors. This eventually developed into more complex patterns and paper piecing.
Penny’s award-winning quilts have been exhibited in shows across the country. She has won many awards for her work, including Best in Show, Viewers Choice, and Judges choice. Penny She has done commission work for many quills shops and private collectors.
Penny resides in PA with her husband of 40 years. She is now sharing her love for quilting with the next generation of quilters, her four granddaughters.
